Use the following links to download or access resources for your handheld devices. Should you have any problems using any of these resources, please don't hesitate to ask a librarian.

Library Subscribed Resources
The OHSU Library pays for subscriptions to the following resources. Part of that subscription includes handheld access or software.
AccessMedicine
Provides PDA downloads within AccessMedicine content. To use this content you must first create your own personal login information in MyAccessMedicine. While you are logged in you will see a link to download files to your PDA as they are available.
Access Emergency Medicine
Provides mobile use of the "Quick Topics" from the Emergency Medicine Manual, searchable topic cards for all textbook resources currently on the AEM site, and drug monographs. You must create a MyAccessEM personal login and password to access smartphone applications from the Access Emergency Medicine page.
DynaMed
Users must use a unique serial number to download and use DynaMed for handheld devices. Email Dynamed to get a serial number for a free download of PDA applications. You must send your request from your OHSU e-mail address. The software supports Palms, PocketPCs, Smartphones, BlackBerry, and iPhone from the Skyscape platform. For more information, see the DynaMed Technical Information page.
EBSCOHost
Access several databases in EBSCOHost including Alt HealthWatch, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, MedicLatina, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, and more. It will allow you to e-mail articles, and view HTML and PDF Full text. Works for most smartphones.
FirstConsult (Elsevier)
FirstConsult is currently only available on the iPad, iPhone, iTouch through a free app. In order to log into the app, you must first create an account with FirstConsult or MDConsult.
1. Access FirstConsult or MDConsult. 2. Click on "Create an Account" on the top right. 3. Complete the registration form, create your username and password, click "Submit" and log out. 4. Download the app from the link above or via iTunes and log in with your MDConsult or FirstConsult username and password.
There is no app for MDConsult yet, but there is mobile access (see MD Consult below).
IEEE Xplore Mobile (IEEE Digital Library)
Provides a mobile interface for searching IEEE Digital Library. From your results list you can e-mail yourself citations and abstracts to view later. The product is still in Beta testing, so let us and IEEE know how you like it.
JAMAEvidence
Provides portions of JAMAEvidence for Smartphones. Portions are: "Quick Reference" pocket cards from Users' Guides to the Medical Literature and the "Make the Diagnosis" sections from The Rational Clinical Examination. You must have a personal login and password for this site, which you can create at JamaEvidence's home page from the MyJamaEvidence link. Functions with: iPhone original and 3G, BlackBerry 8300 series and higher (default browser only), Google's Android platform, and Palm Treo.
MobileMicromedex
MobileMicromedex is now Thompson Clinical Xpert. It covers information on drugs, drug interactions, diseases, labs, alternative medicines, toxicology, and calculators. Register by clicking on the "Handheld PDA" tab and follow the instructions.
MDConsult
MDConsult Mobile provides access to the books, journals, Clinics and guidelines of MD Consult through web enabled smartphones like the iPhone, Blackberry, Treo and others.You will need a personal account on MD Consult to access MDConsult Mobile. If you don't already have a personal account, just follow the four easy steps below to get started:
1. Access MDConsult 2. Click on "Create an Account" on the top right 3. Complete the registration form, create your username and password, click "Submit" and log out. 4. Log into MD Consult Mobile by visiting http://mobile.mdconsult.com from your mobile browser NOTE: Users must log out of regular MDConsult before logging into their phone. YouTube Demo of MDCMobile.
Natural Standard
Natural Standard is offering a free one-year subscription to OHSU users. Use this application to find evidence-based information on complementary and alternative therapies.
Download the Nursing Reference Center app for iPhone/iPad/iPod touch from the iTunes app store. It must then be authenticated:
1.Log into the NRC interface.
2.Click the Nursing Reference Center iPhone/iPod Touch Application link at the bottom of the page and enter your email address. An email with an authentication key is sent to you.
3.Access the email from your device and click the link found in the email to authenticate the application.
You have 24 hours to access the key from your device to authenticate the app. If the key is not used within 24 hours, it expires and you will need a new key.
Note: Once it is authenticated, the app can be used for nine months, after which you must send yourself a new authentication key from the NRC interface.
RefMobile (RefWorks)
RefMobile is the handheld version of RefWorks, a citation management tool. Use your RefWorks login and password as well as the OHSU Group Code to access RefMobile. (The Group Code is e -mailed to you when you register for a RefWorks account). If you can't find the group code, contact us and we'll get it to you.
Thompson Clinical Xpert (formerly MobileMicromedex)
Covers information on drugs, drug interactions, diseases, labs, alternative medicines, toxicology, and calculators. Register by clicking on the "Handheld PDA" tab and follow the instructions.
(you must first set up a personal username and login with UpToDate)
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Search the App Store for "UpToDate" and install. When installation is complete launch the App. At the prompt enter your UpToDate user name and password.
Android
Launch the Google Play icon (or Android Market or Market) and search for "UpToDate Medical". When installation is complete launch the App. At the prompt enter your UpToDate user name and password.
Free Resources

ABG Pro
Program that calculates arterial blood gases. Download for the Palm OS v2.0 or higher.
AgileMedCalc
This program is for Android devices. It includes 7 different medical calculators. View the link for more information.
AIDSinfo Treatment Guidelines
A downloadable version of the guidelines for PocketPC and Palm from the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Archimedes™ Free Medical Calculator
Calculator with formulas specific to Cardiology, Pharmacology, Hematology, FEN, Pediatrics, Pulmonary and Renal medicine. Download for BlackBerry, iPhone, Palm, and other devices.
AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality)
Provides a downloadable version of the Electronic Preventive Services Selector (ePSS) and the Pneumonia Severity Index Module.
BlackBag
This is a free app for your iPhone to help keep you up to date in medical news and research. It is a portal for RSS feeds for news and rich media. Download from iTunes
CDC STD Treatment Guidelines, 2006
Provides a downloadable version of the CDC Sexually Transmitted Disease Treatment Guidelines from 2006. Software for Palm or PocketPC.
CDC Tuberculosis Treatment Guidelines
Provides downloadable guidelines for Tuberculosis from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For the Palm.
Clinical Guidelines on Overweight and Obesity in Adults
Downloadable to Palm and PocketPC devices. Guidelines include a BMI calculator, cardiovascular disease risk factor assessment, individualized weight loss goals and treatment recommendations, and more.

From McGraw-Hill this resource offers information regarding differential diagnoses.
DiagnosisPro
Free online differential diagnosis tool. Use wireless from your handheld devices to access the usable handheld interface.
DoctorCalc
Free downloadable apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Applications are calculators for lab values, sedation, and more.
EBM Calculator
This is the palm version of the Stats Calculator from the University of Toronto. It calculates statistics for diagnostic studies, prospective studies, case control studies, and randomized control studies. Download for the Palm only.

Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) Mobile (this is in beta form)
Check out the beta site of the Journal of the American Chemical Society! This page is still under development, but you can test it out. Also, please read their in-depth instructions. You will have to create an account to save citations to your device.
Medical Encyclopedia - University of Maryland Medical Center
Free iPhone application from the University of Maryland Medical Center. It includes reviewed and regularly updated information in English and Spanish. Download the app from iTunes here.
Medical Eponyms
Provides a database of eponyms for the Palm, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and Pocket PC. Medical Mnemonics Provides a database of medical mnemonics. Download for Palm and WAP enabled phones.
Medilyzer
This app, for the Android device and for the iPhone, helps find drug interaction information for over the counter medications.
Medscape Mobile
Available for iPhones, iPod touch, Blackberry and Android users. Features continually updated Drug Database, Drug Interaction Checker, Medscape Medical News and WebMD Health Directories that can be searched by location, physician name, or specialty No internet connection required for access
MedSpeak Lite
MedSpeak is a tool that will help you communicate with patients who speak Mandarin or Cantonese. It includes written and audio recordings of questions and commands in these languages. The full version of this software (for purchase) is also available through iTunes.
Mobile MedlinePlus
This is MedlinePlus's online interface for mobile devices. The interface includes a search able set of patient information health topics as well as drug and over-the-counter medication information. The entirety of Mobile MedlinePlus is available in Spanish, too.
Mobile MerckMedicus
Downloadable software provides access to The Merck Manual, Reuters Medical News, and Harrison's Practice–Answers on Demand. Wireless access using a handheld enables full use of MerckMedicus. You must register with the site to use the wireless access for your handheld.
National Guideline Clearinghouse
Download a complete summary for each guideline in the National Guideline Clearinghouse database. For each guideline there is a "PDA download" link in the Summary box on the side menu. Downloadable for Palm.
National Heart and Lung Institute
Download numerous applications such as a BMI Calculator, JNC 7, ATP III Cholesterol Guidelines and more for the Palm and PocketPC.
Nature.Com Mobile
Read full-text science news from the Nature Publishing Group on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Download from iTunes.
NCBI Bookshelf
