OHSU Library & OHSU WRITEs Annual Poetry Contest Guidelines



OHSU student, staff and faculty are invited to submit one original, unpublished poem on or before May 8, 2015. Please comply with the following guidelines:

  • Poems must be written in English and cannot exceed 2 pages (double-spaced)
  • Although a poem’s subject is up to the author, suggested topics include:
    • OHSU culture or
    • OHSU experience
  • Poems will be judged on:
    • Creativity
    • Impact
    • Unique expression
  • All submissions must include contact information (author’s name, address, phone number, and email)
  • Email your poem as a Word document attachment to circdesk@ohsu.edu with “Poetry Contest” in the subject line
  • Poems will be judged by a panel of OHSU staff
  • Winners will be notified in May 2015
  • Results of the contest will be announced on the OHSU Library website and OHSU WRITEs website in May
  • The winning poem will be framed and showcased in the OHSU Library (BICC 3rd floor), and posted on the Library’s and OHSU WRITEs website
  • The winning author will receive a $100 gift certificate
  • Honorable mentions will also be showcased on our websites and the two authors awarded $25 gift cards
  • A copy of all submissions will be deposited in OHSU Library Historical Collection & Archives
  • All prizes will be subject to taxation in accordance with OHSU policies

OHSU Library and OHSU WRITEs are excited to support a forum for the OHSU community to express their creativity and share their insight with others.
