EZproxy Overview

What is EZproxy?

EZproxy is an access and authentication software that connects users to content they want. Users gain secure remote access to the Web-based, licensed content they discover in libraries.

EZproxy works by dynamically altering the URLs within the webpages provided by database vendors. Once signed in to the proxy server, EZproxy rewrites URLs of electronic resources, producing the same effect as if the off-campus user was accessing them via the OHSU network or from an OHSU Library computer.

Who can use EZproxy?

OHSU faculty, staff, and enrolled students who have an OHSU network username and password can use them to access the Library's electronic resources remotely.

Affiliate faculty who do not have an OHSU network username and password may access Library's electronic resources remotely using a barcode.

Oregon Licensed Health Professionals can access a limited suite of resources funded by the Oregon Medical Board.

Is EZproxy the only way to access e-resources?

Generally, you do not need to use EZproxy if you are connected to OHSU’s wireless network, or are using a computer located within the OHSU network or a Library workstation. However, a few resources always require EZproxy.

Alternately, OHSU faculty, staff, and enrolled students may not need to connect via EZproxy if they’ve access to Citrix Remote Access.  Simply open the browser within the Citrix environment. Note: Citrix Remote Access is managed and supported by OHSU ITG, not the Library.  However, there are some domains/URLs that are blocked by OHSU's internet filtering system.  So accessing library's e-resources via this method is not always guaranteed to work.

How do I connect to EZproxy?

There is no need to install or configure any software.  There is no "Log in" button to click on either.

To connect to EZproxy for off campus access, simply go to the Library homepage at www.ohsu.edu/library

Go to LibrarySearch to search for a particular journal/article/resource and click on the access link from the catalogs.

Or click on any links to any database/resource available from the home page.
