Finding electronic books in the library catalog

 To find a particular e-book or search for e-books on a particular subject or by keyword, use the library catalog.

Subject Searching: Search as you would for printed material. When you've retrieved the title list, click on the Limit/Sort button at the top of the screen. Use the pull-down menu for Material Type to limit your retrieval to e-books.

Author Searching: If there are only a few records, look for [Electronic Resource] next to the titles. If there are several records, click on the Limit/Sort button at the top of the screen. Use the pull-down menu for Material Type to limit your retrieval to e-books.

Keyword Searching: On the keyword search page, insert the appropriate keyword(s) and use the pull-down menu for Material Type to limit your retrieval to e-books.

Online collections

AccessMedicine
More than 20 books in the basic sciences and clinical medicine. Includes daily content updates.

Books@Ovid
Titles included in this collection are searchable through the standard Ovid interface or by browsing tables of contents and indexes.

Books24x7
Web access to the full text of over 3,000 published books from publishers in business and technology.

Bookshelf (NCBI)
A growing collection of biomedical books that can be searched as a group or individually. The books are also linked to terms in PubMed abstracts; when viewing an abstract, select "Books" in the "Links" menu to see phrases within the abstract hyperlinked to book sections.

MDConsult 

Over 50 medical texts. Search individual titles or the entire collection at once. Integrated with MD Consult's online journals, guidelines, news, and patient handouts.

Morgan & Claypool's Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science

This collection is comprised of 50- to 100-page "Lectures", or self-contained electronic books, that synthesize important research or development topics and are authored by an expert contributor to the field. A prominent consulting editor guides lecture topic and author selection, as well as peer review.

Psychiatry Online
Web access to ten psychiatric reference titles including DSM-IV-TR from American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc.

Rittenhouse Books/R2Library
Full text access to many titles in medicine and nursing.

STAT!Ref
Over 40 books, covering general and specialized areas of medicine. Customizable display and search features. Users may select any number of titles to search simultaneously or choose from pre-arranged sets.
