PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

  • Reference Librarian, Assistant Professor, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon.  September 2010-June 2011 (one year appointment).  Provided reference service to students, faculty, staff and the public.  Learned how to use the Libguides program and developed several Libguides (see Special Skills).  Responsible for OHSU Library’s Health Information by Mail and Health Information by Email services.  Maintained the Consumer Health website.  Maintained and provided collection development for the Consumer Health collection.
  • Reference Librarian, substitute on-call, Portland Community College.  2006-2009. Provided reference service at a busy reference desk.
  • Reference Librarian, Assistant Professor, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon.  July 2000-Jan. 2005.  Provided reference service to students, faculty, staff and the public.  Prepared and taught library classes, including Endnote, PubMed and Health Information for Your Patients.  Coordinated library orientations.  Maintained the webpages:  Consumer Health Links, Young Men’s Health Page and Young Women’s Health Page.  Responsible for OHSU Library’s Health Information by Mail and Health Information by Email services.  Maintained and provided collection development for the Consumer Health collection.
  • Reference Librarian, Portland Community College-Cascade Campus, Portland, Oregon.  September 1999-August 2000. Provided reference service to undergraduate students, faculty, staff and the public.  Prepared and taught bibliographic instruction sessions to PCC classes.  Duties included collection development, database and internet searching, and special projects.  Produced the annotated bibliography, In Honor of Girls:  Adolescent Girls and Self-Esteem.
  • Adjunct Reference Librarian, Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon, September 1998-May 1999.  Provided reference service to undergraduate students, faculty, staff and the public.  Prepared and taught bibliographic instruction sessions to Linfield classes.  Duties included collection development, database and internet searching, and special projects.  Co-taught an Introduction to the World Wide Web workshop to Linfield staff.
