Your Privacy and the OHSU Library
The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Library is committed to protecting your privacy to the greatest extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal law. The Library staff believes privacy is an essential element of intellectual and academic freedom and subscribes to the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, which states: "We protect each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted."
The Library takes the collection of personal information required to provide services very seriously. Personal information is kept for the shortest amount of time necessary to complete the requested service transaction. If you visit the Library web site and do not provide personal information, the resulting logs contain information necessary only for analyzing the use of resources, troubleshooting problems, and improving services.
Access to personal information is restricted to library staff. Personal information is never used for commercial purposes and will not be revealed to any third party except by such process, order, or subpoena authorized by law and only after clearance from the OHSU Legal Department. The Library is supported in this goal by national, state, and local laws, and OHSU policies.
