OHSU

Consortia

The OHSU Library is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, composed of 37 academic libraries in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.  Alliance member libraries work together to provide outstanding services to students and faculty, share information resources and expertise, develop library staff, and help members allocate financial and human resources to serve the unique needs of each member. To this end, the Alliance considers the combined collections of member institutions as one collection.

As a member of the Portland Academic Health Libraries Consortium, the OHSU Library hosts the catalogs of the libraries of the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM), the University of Western States (UWS), and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM).

OHSU Library Cooperative Resource Sharing Relationships

The OHSU Library participates as a Resource Library in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM). The program is administered by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and provides access to biomedical information to U.S. health care professionals, researchers, educators, librarians and the general public. Over 4,500 health sciences libraries and health information centers in eight regions participate in this resource sharing network.

OHSU Library participates in the Oregon Library Passport Program. This service extends free borrowing privileges to any Oregon resident whose home library also participates in the program.

Oregon Statewide Database Licensing Program is coordinated by the Oregon State Library. The program is funded by the Library Service and Technology Act (LSTA) and subsidizes the purchase of electronic resources for Oregon libraries.

The OHSU Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with most area colleges and universities. This allows for direct checkout of materials and on-site use of electronic resources.

The OHSU Library shares resources and services with other OHSU consumer health programs including the Center for Women's Health and the Doernbecher Family Resources Center. The Library supports these programs by providing consulting, reference and acquisitions services.
The OHSU Library actively seeks partnering opportunities with other OHSU administrative units and departments for collaborative purchase of print and electronic resources. Several of these arrangements are currently in effect.
