Kinsman Conference

John Kinsman

Established in 1989 through an endowment from the late John Kinsman, the Kinsman Conference convenes leaders in ethics from all corners of the state and is hosted by a different Oregon city each year.

The conference is a collaborative partnership, designed to draw on and nurture the strengths of each community it serves.  In addition to showcasing shared learning among medical facilities throughout the region and offering powerful new tools for improvements in health care ethics, it provides an ongoing opportunity to mentor and support future leaders in the field.

Important health care policies have also been born from Kinsman conferences, including the POLST program to ensure that patients' wishes for treatment of advanced illness and frailty are both known and honored.
