End of Life Education

The OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care reaches a wide audience in end-of-life education.

  • Statewide and regional conferences reach out to health care professionals of all disciplines.
  • All-City Palliative Care Conferences. Partnering with Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center, Providence Health & Services, Adventist Health & Legacy Health System, the Center for Ethics in Health Care at OHSU coordinates a monthly gathering designed for continuing education and networking that rotates throughout Portland hospitals.
  • Living With Life Threatening Illness is a predoctoral class for 1st and 2nd year medical students. This elective is designed to assist medical students to see illness thru the eyes of a patient who is living with a life threatening illness.
  • Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship Didactic Series. By coordinating the weekly didactic education series we assist the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center with their Palliative Care Fellowship.
  • OHSU School of Medicine reserves two grand rounds each year for ethics and palliative care.
