Career and Workplace Enhancement Center
provides resources and personalized support for career advancement. Services include individual career counseling, networking information, soft skill training classes, customer service, computer application classes, tutorials, a career library and a computer lab accessible to every employee. Non-native English speaking employees also have access to an English Language development program through the CDC, which includes tutoring, group conversation classes and self-paced learning options.
Human Resources
Human Resources sponsors and supports a variety of training opportunities for individuals and departments. Each unit is supported by a Human Resource Business Partner skilled in hiring, and developing a diverse workforce. HR also provides a New Employee Orientation and New Employee Passport to help all new hires navigate and integrate when joining our OHSU community.
Organizational and Workforce Development Department
The specialists in the Organizational and Workforce Development Department support individual professional growth through training and development. The Leadership Foundations Program for new managers, Lead Worker Series, Emerging Leader Series, and Conflict and Communication Classes are a few programs accessible to all staff. Specialists may also provide customized sessions for individuals, teams and departments in Executive Coaching, mentoring, team building, intercultural communication and diversity, along with a host of other topics focused on professional and organizational development.
- Employee Tuition Benefit Program:
OHSU offers an Employee Tuition Benefit program to support all employees as they seek professional certifications and degrees.
- Professional Development Reimbursement Program:
All AFSCME-represented employees working 18.5 or more hours per 80-hour pay period are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,000.00 per fiscal year for qualified professional development expenses.
- OHSU School of Nursing Graduate Classes Tuition Discount:
ONA represented employees who have served the organization half-time or more for at least two years are eligible for a graduate tuition discount.
Benefits Department
OHSU provides a comprehensive benefits package for all employees. Among the many benefits available is the Employee Assistance Plan, through BalanceWorks, which offers numerous self paced, on-line professional development courses at no cost to you, as well as individual coaching and counseling options.
