Risk Management

Jilma was born in Latin America. Her family immigrated to the US when she was a child and she grew up in San Francisco. She attended college at University of California at Berkeley and went on to earn her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School. Jilma has been on the OHSU staff for 9 years. For her first six years, she served as Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity. She was then promoted to the position of Director of Risk Management, where she oversees the department that is responsible for the health, safety and protection of all OHSU patients, employees, students and visitors while also protecting the university’s physical and financial resources.

Jilma enjoys working at OHSU because she believes in the mission of healing, teaching and discovery coming together. She also believes that diversity fosters creativity, innovation, advancement, and respect at OHSU. "Diversity is critical for OHSU's growth. It is also essential if we want to effectively serve patients from all walks of life and from around the world."
