OHSU’s Research Center for Gender-Based Medicine (RCGBM) announced the recipients of the Center’s second seed funding awards:
- Diane Elliot, M.D., Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Health Promotion & Sports Medicine; Associate Director, Human Performance Laboratory; Science Director, Center for Health Promotion Research; for Studies to Prevent and Reduce Trauma in Athletes (SPARTA)
- Monica Hinds, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Science and Engineering; for Role of Hormones, in Particular Estrogen, in Vascular Dysfunction
- Donna Van Winkle, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Anesthesiology & Peri-Operative Medicine; Director of Research, Operative Care Division, Portland VA Medical Center; for Sex-Dependence of Myocardial Ischemic Tolerance Due to Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Inhibition
- John Williams, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, Vollum Institute; for Dopamine Cells and Movement Disorders: Identifying a Cellular Basis for Rett Syndrome
Seed funding’s goal is to stimulate research in gender-based medicine by supporting the generation of preliminary data that will lead to career development for junior investigators or NIH R01-type proposals for established investigators.
