Meet Alan Chen

Alan Chen is a Portland native who received his B.S. in Biological Sciences and Economics from Stanford.He enrolled in OHSU to learn to embody the qualities of a well-balanced dentist. In addition to clinical skills and patient care, Alan is interested in participating in organized dentistry, dental education and research throughout the community, across the country and overseas.

Alan’s favorite aspects of studying at OHSU are the relationships that he has built with his fellow students and faculty, and the opportunities he has had to interact with the global dental community. The diverse environment at OHSU is appealing to Alan because, “A diverse environment brings together a variety of life experiences, cultures, and values that provide a community with differing perspectives on similar issues that never would have arisen from a homogenous group.” He enjoys the unique atmosphere created when people from all walks of life work together as well as the opportunity to learn from his colleagues about people and character.
