Meet Adrienne Ochs
“The best part about working at OHSU is the people!”
Adrienne Ochs, Ph.D.
Manager
Discover OHSU!
Science Education Opportunities Office
Adrienne was raised in Dover, Delaware, and received her undergraduate education at Delaware State College, majoring in agriculture business. Upon completion, she enrolled in graduate school at Penn State University where she earned a master’s degree in rural sociology and a master’s degree in demography. Immediately following, she completed a doctoral program in agricultural and extension education, with emphases in volunteer and youth development. Currently Adrienne manages the Discover OHSU! program, and works with the program’s volunteers, faculty, presenters, scientists and local nonprofit partners providing opportunities for approximately 100 high school students, per week, to explore science and healthcare careers. At OHSU Adrienne hopes to broaden outreach efforts to identify, track and recruit youth to OHSU academic programs and retain them once they have enrolled.
For Adrienne, the most rewarding part of working at OHSU is the opportunity to work with so many dynamic people, and the university’s strong commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. As part of the Science Education Opportunities Office, Adrienne enjoys working with a diverse team of educators, scientists and staff who understand the interdependent nature of their work and benefit to the workplace productivity and satisfaction that comes with respecting and appreciating individual differences. Adrienne feels these efforts ultimately increase OHSU’s marketing opportunities, recruitment, retention, and business and education objectives.
