Respect Training
OHSU leaders and managers are invited to attend a full-day "Respect" training in the coming weeks. The training is designed to introduce engagement as a business management concept that assists in building a respectful culture.
The process focuses on personal accountability and responsibility to strengthen organizational performance and to align culture with diversity strategies.The training will also provide participants with a fundamental understanding of how OHSU can strategically create a community of inclusion, in preparation for the development of mission-specific diversity action plans.

Healthcare Equality Index: LGBT Live Webinar Trainings
OHSU was recognized in 2011 and 2012 as a "Leader in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Healthcare Equality" by the Human Rights Campaign. The Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) rates healthcare facilities on their policies related to LGBT healthcare equality.
The four main policy criteria include:
- Patient non-discrimination
- Hospital visitation
- Employment policies
- Cultural competency
OHSU's Center for Diversity & Inclusion, in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), is offering LGBT live webinar trainings, presented by Shane Snowden from the HRC. The webinars are open to all OHSU employees and students. If you cannot attend one of the trainings, please contact Sue Orchard to learn how to bring the webinar to your workgroup.

LGBT Patient-Centered Care: An Executive Briefing
This highly engaging and informative 90-minute live webinar with LGBT health expert Shane Snowdon, Director of the Health & Aging Program of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, equips senior healthcare managers with the information they need to ensure that their organizations provide optimal care for LGBT patients and are in full compliance with CMS and Joint Commission requirements.

Transgender Patients: Organizational Best Practices
This 60-minute webinar is ideal for staff members who want to learn more about how their organizations can better serve transgender patients. Please note, however, that it focuses on organizational practices, not clinical information. Employees can attend on any of the three training dates offered, and can attend individually or together.
