Inclement Weather

For OHSU Hospitals and Clinics

OHSU Hospital, Doernbecher Children's Hospital and the Emergency Department always remain open. Every effort is made to keep all outpatient clinic locations open as well, while still ensuring the safe arrival of our patients.

When the weather forecast is calling for ice or snow, call the OHSU Alert Line: 503 494-9021.

A recorded message will provide:

  • road conditions (option 1)
  • information for patients (option 2)
  • information for students (option 3)
  • information for employees (option 4)
  • driving directions (option 5)

If your appointment is at one of OHSU’s community medical offices and you are concerned about road conditions in that area, please call ahead. Our staff will advise you about local road conditions and public transportation services.

Information for employees and students.

Road Conditions

View live road cams.

Sam Jackson Park Road and Campus Drive may require traction devices when snow is on the ground. In snowy conditions, public transportation and the Tram are strongly advised.

Public Transportation

Public transportation may be the safest option in bad weather. Be prepared:

Portland Aerial Tram is highly recommended in most inclement weather conditions. The Tram closely monitors wind conditions and may suspend service in high wind. Shuttles replace Tram service as needed. Check for updates.

TriMet may choose to suspend Marquam Hill service and reroute buses to the Tram. Check TriMet service alerts or call 503-231-3197. More on TriMet's weather service here. Portland Streetcar services Schnitzer Campus and the Tram.

C-TRAN service to Portland may be altered or canceled. Check C-TRAN's website or call 503-283-8054.
