Search (Endeca)
What is Endeca?
Endeca is OHSU's enterprise search tool, maintained by Web Strategies and ITG. This application powers search of all 28 of OHSU's public-facing domains.
Endeca Features
The search results interface is dynamically assembled for each search, allowing OHSU to spotlight content, news and faculty. There are several different areas of the page where content is customized based on search terms.
Featured Results
Individual search results can be promoted at the top of the results. For example, a search for "jobs" returns a link to the HR website at the top of the list of results.
Promotional Graphics
Promotional graphics are displayed in the left column. For example, a search for "web support" displays a graphic in the left column.
Featured Programs
OHSU programs can be featured in the right column. For example, a search for "science education" displays a summary of the Office of Science Education in the upper right corner of the display.
Featured News, Faculty & Clinical Trials
Links to news articles are displayed in the right column when search terms match content from the news item. For example, a search for "tram" displays a list of stories in the right column related to the tram. The display of these news links is automatically generated by selecting three random links that match the search terms; it cannot be customized. (If you refresh the page, you'll notice the stories change.)
Faculty and clinical trials are spotlighted in the right column the same way.
Subsite Search
Endeca can be used to search any collection of directories or websites. The interface will be exactly the same as the one you see for global searches, but the results will only be pages from the directories you define.
Endeca subsite search is available for most public-facing OHSU websites. To get started, fill out the request form. A staff member from Web Strategies will follow up with the code snippet or CommonSpot element you need to integrate this tool with your site.
