OHSU

Web Policies

We hope that the following will help OHSU web managers in designing a website that is intuitive and accessible for our end users as well as easy to maintain.

Web Browser Support

OHSU supports IE 6 for all internal users. Additionally, Web Strategies expects all OHSU sites to function consistently with IE 7, Firefox 2, and Safari, in order to support the greatest number of our external customers and contacts.  Web managers are responsible for testing their unit's site in these browsers before any unit site goes live.

Accessibility

OHSU must be a welcoming and accessible place for all members of our community. Please keep special accessibility needs in mind in designing websites. In addition to W3C compliance, web managers will also want to take into consideration the use of fonts, colors, and placement of imagery on our sites. Sites that follow the Visual Identity Guidelines will benefit from careful attention to accessibility in the unified site design.

Please contact Web Strategies with any questions or concerns, and we would be very happy to help!

Supported Development Software

OHSU encourages and provides technical support for:

  • CommonSpot
  • Coldfusion

OHSU allows but cannot guarantee technical support for the use of:

  • Contribute
  • Dreamweaver
  • PHP

Work In Progress

We must present a professional, organized appearance to our public users at all times. "Under Construction" or "Work In Progress" pages are not allowed; "coming soon" is appropriate only in rare circumstances.

In a similar vein, "last updated" is not appropriate on a webpage.

Integrity Office

The policies detailed here govern website development, support & nomenclature. For policies that affect workplace ethics or legal compliance, please see the OHSU Integrity Office website.
