Frequently Asked Questions
When I log into CommonSpot, I can't see the "Author" option in "Page View". Why not?
There are a number of reasons why you might not see an option to author on an OHSU web page. Here are some of the most common reasons. If none of these issues apply to you, there might be another problem - open a support ticket with Web Strategies to get it resolved.
Option 1: You are using Internet Explorer 6
CommonSpot only supports IE7 or Firefox for making authoring changes. If you are using IE6, you will not see an authoring option. If you don't know what browser you are using, look under the "Help" menu item for the "About" option. To find out more about why IE6 is not supported, view additional information here.

Option 2: You are not on the correct serverIf you are trying to author on your public website, you will not see an authoring option when you log in. The only server that will accept authoring changes is http://authoring.ohsu.edu -- if your URL is www.ohsu.edu, then you will not be able make changes. For more information about logging into your site, view our knowledgebase article here.
You do not have authoring rights.
If you are not a member of the group that has rights to author in a particular area, you will be able to log into CommonSpot, but you will not be able to author web changes. Having a valid CommonSpot account does not mean you can edit any OHSU page.
