CommonSpot upgrade from 4.6 to 5.0 complete
04/09/08 Portland, OR
The CommonSpot migration is complete - your sites are now upgraded to CommonSpot 5.0 and live on the new Windows hardware. The upgrade improves the user interface for authoring and also provides faster response time.
Some other changes to be aware of:
- You will notice a slight difference in the CommonSpot interface
- Replication is no longer -- your changes will be live as soon as you publish them
- For those of you writing custom scripts or style sheets, the access to the file system is changing. If you need access to files and directories that you can't get to, please email us.
- There is a new URL for authoring.
To login and author your website, replace the "webauth1" portion of the URL with "authoring.ohsu.edu."
If your previous authoring link was http://webauth1/ohsuedu/central/webstrategies/login.cfm
You should now use http://authoring.ohsu.edu/ohsuedu/central/webstrategies/login.cfm
- In CommonSpot 5.0, you can not edit or author in a site using Internet Explorer 6
There are two other options available: Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2 (or later)
For those of you unable to upgrade to IE7 because of access issues to Oracle applications, or who are using Safari on a Mac, Firefox is the only choice. It is a free, lightweight and easy-to-use, easy-to-install browser. You can download it here:
You will be able to have both IE6/IE7 and Firefox running on your computer at the same time, and you also can import all of your bookmarks without any loss of information. If you have any concerns about it, please do not hesitate to contact Web Strategies at webadmin@ohsu.edu.
If you have any questions or problems with the upgrade, please let us know by submitting a ticket.
