OHSU's standard cell phones only work within the United States. All phones have these features: Bluetooth, calendar, camera, color screen, data kits, headset compatible, mp3 player, phonebook, SMS messaging (text two-way), speakerphone, vibrate, voice activated dialing, voice messaging, Web capable.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES):

These instructions only apply if you already have a BlackBerry. Email the wireless office to learn about purchasing a new BlackBerry and having it set up on the BES.

  • One-time license fee of $65.00. Before calling the Help Desk (503-494-2222) to get set up, make sure you have your  department alias and the name of your fiscal authority.
  • Set-up involves many ITG work units, and may take some time.
  • Ask your wireless service provider if your plan supports BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This may raise your monthly fee.
  • Password standards apply (ISD-700-00004 Password Standards). You'll need to re-enter your username and password if the device is idle for 2 minutes (Can be raised to 10 minutes).
  • BlackBerry's need to be backed-up and then wiped – erasing all memory – before they are configured to work with OHSU's email system.
  • Microsoft advises that you do not accept or decline appointments from a hand held device, as it is unreliable. this should be done from a workstation or laptop.

BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)

Follow these instructions to set up BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS).

  • Free
  • No calendar, no contacts
  • Works with OHSU email, but isn't fully integrated with Outlook. (If you delete an email from your BlackBerry, it won't  be deleted in Outlook. If you read an email in Outlook, it won't show up as read on the BlackBerry.)

If you have a Smartphone (Palm Treo, Motorola Q) that is Windows Mobile capable, you can connect to OHSU email using the following:
