OHSU

Drives and Folders: New Look

The network migration will re-structure OHSU's drives and folders. The new format will keep us more organized, but you will have to re-map drives   that you mapped yourself.

For information on acceptable drive and folder use, see the Acceptable Use of Computing and Telecommunications Resource policy.

The following changes to your drives and folders will happen gradually. Here's how it will look when the network migration is complete:

computer
A: through G: drives. Your primary hard drive, any additional hard drives, CD/DVD drives, USB drives, and other local drives.
mapdrive
H: drive. For an individual's work-related files (normally only viewable by the owner). H: drive back-ups are performed nightly.
map drive I: through V: drives. May be mapped as needed, by individuals or by the Computer Access team. Note: Some departments may have internal policies defining which drive letters their staff may use to map.
mapdrive X: drive. Department folders, OHSU Shared, and OHSU Apps.
branch folder
Branch-level folders. Your department folders are organized by branch name: ADMIN, CLINIC, FOUNDATIONS, HOSP, RESEARCH, SOD, SOM, SON or WEST.
departmental folder
Departmental folders. (Formerly stored mainly on the J: drive.)
open folder shared
OHSU Shared. Inter and intra-departmental shared folders (formerly the I: drive).
open folder private Private. Limited Access. All of the former I: drive folders except for Public and Transfer.
open folder public Public. Where folder owners can place read-only files of interest to the entire organization.
open folder transfer Transfer. For inter-departmental temporary holding and delivery of files to other OHSU users. Files are deleted weekly.
Warning: All OHSU users can read, copy, edit, or delete any files in the Transfer folder.
open folder apps OHSU Apps. Site-licensed software. Formerly the V: and Y: drives.
