Email Lists
You have three choices: Distribution lists, Majordomo Listservs, and distribution groups. Distribution groups meet most customers' needs. Here's a summary of the other two kinds of lists:
- Distribution lists: You create and maintain the list in Outlook. Limit of 125 members.
- Majordomo listservs: Can contain both OHSU users and external users. Managed by the owner. Can be made private, so only certain individuals can send to it. If it is a public list, whoever knows the list's address can send messages to it.
Distribution groups
Distribution groups allow members to send an email to many people at the same time. Group members can reply to the entire group.
- Only people with OHSU email accounts can use the group
- The group can be managed by one person, through Microsoft Outlook
- Authorized users can send updates to Computer Access
- The group is public for anyone at OHSU to use
For a private list, or a list that allows non-OHSU email accounts, use a listserv.
Changing the group administrator
To change the administrator, have the current administrator send a request to Computer Access.
