OHSU

Governance

OHSU's information technology strategies, priorities, and direction are set by the president and the executive leadership team. This governance and oversight is carried out by a number of mission-based or activity-based steering committees.

IT Steering and advisory committees

  • Administrative information Systems Steering Committee (AIS)
  • Clinical Information Systems Steering Committee (CIS)
    Subcommittee of Clinical Leadership Team
  • Education Information Systems Steering Committee (EIS)
    Subcommittee of Associate/Assistant Deans Council
  • Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IAC)
  • Information Security and Privacy Advisory Committee (ISPAC)
  • Web Strategies Advisory Committee (WSAC)
  • Research information systems Steering Committee (RIS)

IT project priorities

Each of the steering and advisory committees uses the following criteria for approving and prioritizing projects. Project approval is based on a match between priority and resource availability (staff time, budget) to address the project within a reasonable period of time.

  • Priority 1 - Project addresses a regulatory issue
  • Priority 2 - Project addresses maintaining the production IT environment
  • Priority 3 - Project addresses an enterprise-wide information need
  • Priority 4 - Project addresses support for an OHSU strategic mission
  • Priority 5 - Project addresses an individual department information need

In addition to prioritizing projects initiated by various key stakeholders at OHSU, each steering committee is also asked to identify key issues that they believe would be of value to the organization and to bring those issues to the attention of OHSU's executive leadership.
