Radioactive Waste Prices

Contact Central Campus RSO or Contact West Campus RSO for any waste items or categories that are not listed here. Price will depend on radionuclide, volume and hazard class.

Absorbed Aqueous Waste - Aqueous liquid in superfine absorbent in 1 gallon containers

• For Decay - $50.65/gallon

Liquid Waste -Liquid waste in 1 gallon containers

•  For RSO Disposal - $19.10/gallon

Dry Sold Waste - Lab trash, dry refuse.  (Must be segregated by half life)

• >90 Day Half life or for burial - $183.62/ft³

• >15 < 90 day half life for decay - $51.18/ft³

• <15 day half life for decay - $19.10/ft³

LSC Waste - Vials, Plates or Mats

• Environmentally Safe / Biodegradable LSC - $44.63/ft³

• Bulk Environmentally Safe / Biodegradable LSC - $46.02/ft³

• Hazardous / Organic Solvents (e.g. xylene, toluene) LSC - $33.69/ft³

Biological Radioactive Waste - Inactivated, non-infectious animal carcasses, tissues, body fluids or any putrefiable material, not otherwise prepared for shipment off campus - $933.39/ft³

Instrument Calibration - for all portable beta & gamma detector calibration (OHSU departments only)

• Calibration - $28.65/instrument

• Additional detector - $9.55/detector

• Repair parts/Batteries - at cost

Dosimetry - fees are charged each month or quarter

• Film badges - $7.21

• Ring badges - $8.11

• TLD badges - $8.41

Radioactive Package Receipt - for screening orders, surveying and administrative tracking of isotopes on campus. (price is per vial)

Cesium Irradiator - this fee pays for annual repair & maintenance costs to keep the irradiator functional. (price is per use)

Radiation Safety Labor Rate - price is per hour, 15 minute minimum.
