What is Ergonomics....

and why is it important?

Ergonomics is the science of fitting jobs to people.  The goal of our Ergonomic program is to design workstations, tools, and work tasks with a focus on safety, efficiency and comfort.  Effective ergonomic design reduces discomfort and injuries while increasing job satisfaction and productivity.

Ergonomic services offered by Environmental Health & Radiation Safety include:

  • Ergonomic workstation assessments
  • Office furniture adjustments
  • Computing recommendations
  • Ambient light level guidance
  • Workflow design
  • Assistance with construction and remodel planning
  • Training as a refresher or when moving into new or remodeled space

These services are available at no charge!

Note: The expense for any necessary changes to your workstation or environment are the responsibility of your department, so be sure to talk about your concerns with your supervisor.
