MSDS
Material Safety Data Sheets, commonly called MSDS's, are resources for detailed information on specific hazardous chemicals. The data includes exposure routes, health effects, and necessary protection. Manufacturers are required to make individual MSDS's available for each specific concentration of a given hazardous chemical.
Oregon OSHA requires that employees have access to chemical information for all hazardous chemicals in the workplace. Each area is responsible for keeping an MSDS for every hazardous material present in accordance with policy.
Hazard Communication Program Policy.
Typically, MSDS's are kept in a binder for quick and easy access. The first page must consist of a table of contents listing all hazardous chemicals in a given work area. The binder should be kept in a location where all can access it. For guidance in compiling or updating your MSDS Binder, EHRS offers a helpful link.
Your best resource will be the manufacturer's website when searching for missing MSDS's. If you have difficulty locating the MSDS through the manufacturer, EHRS can help.
