Brett Dodson Named Portland Aerial Tram Manager

08/21/09  Portland, OR

Brett Dodson has been hired by Oregon Health & Science University to serve as manager of the Portland Aerial Tram.

In his new role, Dodson will be responsible for daily tram operations, including overseeing public and employee safety, serving as a community liaison, managing revenues and expenses for the tram, and guiding customer service. Dodson also will manage OHSU’s contract with Doppelmayr CTEC, the tram’s operations and maintenance provider.

Previously, management of the Tram was a part-time position and a shared responsibility among OHSU Transportation and Parking Division staff. Dodson will be the first full-time manager to oversee Tram duties.

“I’m very excited to direct operations for such an essential transportation link for Northwest residents,” said Dodson. “As Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood continues to expand, I look forward to seeing the Tram become an even more integral link between the neighborhood and OHSU’s operations at South Waterfront and on Marquam Hill.”

Dodson most recently served as the operations manager for the Silver Mountain resort in Idaho, a ski resort that features the world’s longest gondola. His diverse background also includes years spent in Aizkraukle, Latvia, and Sheffield, England, as general manager for several door and window manufacturing and sales organizations.  Brett graduated from Linfield College with a degree in international business and anthropology.
