Three New Directors Named at OHSU

NEW OHSU APPOINTMENTS
Hyland has experience in academic, nonprofit and legal settings, and brings more than 10 years' experience in employment discrimination law. She holds a law degree from the University of Oregon and is working on a master's of social work at Portland State University. She is a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability, for which she is chairwoman, and serves as a member of the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility Advisory Committee, and the Firefighter, Police, Disability and Retirement System Independent Review Committee.
As director of OHSU's Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Department she will manage the institution's equal opportunity program and grievance procedures, advising OHSU leadership on civil rights compliance, discrimination, harassment and reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities. She also will help lead OHSU's long-term diversity strategies.
Cynthia Wickstrom, J.D., C.P.H.R.M., C.P.H.Q., has moved from her previous role as director of OHSU Risk Management to director of Continuous Improvement for Central Services. In her new role, she will assist Central Services staff insuring that administrative systems and processes are customer-friendly, efficient and better integrated. For example, she will work with Central Services units to help set unit benchmarks by evaluating comparable departments in similar organizations. This evidence-based approach will ensure that units are the right size, that their scope of activity is appropriate, and that they take advantage of best practices.
Jilma Meneses, J.D., who most recently served as OHSU's director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, has been appointed director of OHSU Risk Management. She has significant experience in preventive risk strategies, claims management and litigation.
As director of Risk Management, Meneses will continue efforts to build and enhance systems and processes to anticipate OHSU's liability, property and safety risks, and to manage claims, losses and insurance expenses.
