Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation will present the seventh annual Heart of Doernbecher Auction to benefit the Kenneth W. Ford Northwest Children's Cancer Center at Doernbecher.
The Donald C. and Elizabeth M. Dickinson Foundation of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., has awarded a $150,000 matching challenge grant to the 2004 Heart of Doernbecher Auction. The grant will allow the foundation to double its auction revenues during the special appeal portion of the evening — matching dollar for dollar all donations (up to $150,000) to the Doernbecher cancer center expansion. This effort is spearheaded by Rebecca Dickinson Welch and Kris Dickinson, who will serve as the auction's honorary chairs, as well as the entire Dickinson Foundation Board.
The evening also features both silent and live auctions. General tickets are $175 each; patron tickets are $250 each.
Funds raised at this year’s auction will support expansion of the Kenneth W. Ford Northwest Children's Cancer Center, established at Doernbecher in 1998. Doernbecher treats more than 80 percent of Oregon's young cancer patients. In the past five years the number of patients served by Doernbecher's cancer specialists has quadrupled, meaning children frequently cannot receive their treatments until a bed becomes available.
