OHSU Foundation Announces New Board Members

The Oregon Health & Science University Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of several new and returning members to its board of trustees. Board members are community leaders who volunteer their time and expertise to provide policy direction and oversight for the OHSU Foundation.

New OHSU Foundation board members, or members returning after serving previously, are: Wayne A. Drinkward, Nancy Fischer, Erin B. Hubert, Alan V. Johnson, Cathryn Majeran, D.M.D., Ronald C. Parker, Eric E. Parsons, Jill Price, D.M.D., Marcia Walsh, Phil Wick and Mary D. Wilcox.

  • Drinkward is president and CEO of Hoffman Construction Co., and was named one of Oregon's Top 10 Citizens by the Portland Business Journal.
  • Fischer and her husband own Storables, a storage and organization business for the home and office. She also is the incoming chairwoman of the Marquam Hill Steering Committee and is a community volunteer and literacy advocate.
  • Hubert is vice president and general manager of Entercom Communications, which owns a number of Portland radio stations. She also is former executive vice president of the Portland Trail Blazers and Oregon Arena Corporation.
  • Johnson is regional president (Oregon and Southwest Washington) of Wells Fargo Bank and is on the boards of the Oregon Business Council and Portland Business Alliance.
  • Majeran is a retired dentist and has been active for several years with the OHSU School of Dentistry, serving as past president of the alumni association, on the leadership council, and on the school's fundraising campaign.
  • Parker is vice chairman of Hampton Affiliates, chairman of the Ford Family Foundation and a former trustee for the Portland Opera.
  • Parsons is president and CEO of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc., and Standard Insurance Company. He has served as chair of the board of trustees of the Oregon Zoo Foundation, treasurer of the Portland Opera, and a member of the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts.
  •  Price is a practicing dentist and has been a part-time instructor in the OHSU School of Dentistry's Prosthetics Lab. She has served as president of the school's alumni board and is active in the Oregon Dental Association.
  • Walsh is a member of the OHSU Campaign for Women's Health and will serve as co-chairwoman of the campaign's gala fundraising event in 2004. She is a realtor for The Hasson Company.
  • Wick is president of Les Schwab Tire Center and has lived in rural Oregon and Washington most of his life.
  • Wilcox is a principal in various family investment companies and previously worked as a partner and attorney with Schwabe, Williamson and Wyatt. She is the major founder and co-chair of the OHSU Campaign for Women's Health and is a member of several boards including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Oregon Community Foundation.

The OHSU Foundation is governed by a board of trustees consisting of civic leaders and members of Oregon's business communities. Trustees are responsible for formulating long-range goals, policies and operating procedures for the foundation. Board members are elected to four-year terms and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms before a mandatory one-year hiatus.

The Oregon Health & Science University Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization securing private philanthropic support for Oregon Health & Science University. The foundation raises funds from individuals, companies, foundations and organizations, and invests and manages gifts in accordance with donors' wishes.
