Edith O. Miller

A princess in every way

Edith O. MillerEdith O. Miller left a generous testamentary gift for the Medical Research Foundation. Also a long time supporter of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Mrs. Miller passed away in August 2008 at age 104. She was the daughter of Henry Ottenheimer, who owned Jones Cash Store, a mail-order business in Portland, and was married to Harold J. Miller, the third generation of the family that owned the Millers for Men clothing store in downtown Portland for 101 years. Her son, Alan E. Miller, became the fourth generation to run the store.  Mrs. Miller was a Portland Rose Festival Princess in 1922 and at the time of her death was believed to be the longest-lived Princess in the event’s history.

Both OHSU and Doernbecher are most grateful for Mrs. Miller’s vision and generosity. She epitomized the Rose City and its spirit of caring, and she remains forever our Princess.
