Plan for today. Give for tomorrow. Change the World.

OHSU would literally not be where it is today without the power of planned giving. Two early and transformative estate gifts from C.S. “Sam” Jackson and Frank Doernbecher enabled OHSU to expand its Marquam Hill campus and construct its first teaching hospital - Doernbecher. The vibrant, multifaceted institution we know today coalesced from these visionary acts of planned philanthropy. Ever since, other forward-looking donors have followed suit with support that provides the foundation for OHSU’s future excellence.

Planned gifts come in many forms. Whether in the form of a bequest, a charitable gift annuity, a life-estate transfer or some other giving method, your deferred gift will have a lasting impact on the health and well-being of people living in our region and beyond. At the same time, gift plans can help you make a significant contribution while attaining your own financial objectives. The OHSU Foundation’s office of gift planning is here to help today’s visionary donors create a bright tomorrow for OHSU.

Gift Planning Donor Societies

The Sam Jackson Guild honors individuals who have established deferred gift plans benefiting Oregon Health & Science University through the OHSU Foundation. The guild is named in honor of Charles Samuel Jackson, whose family donated most of the land that is now the OHSU campus. Jackson was the founding publisher of The Portland Journal and a widely respected humanitarian.

The Frank Doernbecher Guild honors individuals who have established gift plans benefiting OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The guild is named in honor of Frank S. Doernbecher, who in 1921 left $200,000 through his will to benefit the people of Oregon. The Doernbechers were convinced of the need for a special hospital to serve needy children under the care and supervision of the University of Oregon Medical School. Learn more
