Center for Coastal Margin Observation and Prediction

The Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction (CMOP) advances scientific understanding of the coastal margin environments that sustain much of the world's population. As a multi-institutional National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center, CMOP characterizes complex physical and biogeochemical processes at work in river-to-ocean ecosystems and explores links between environmental and human health.
With a strong focus on the region where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, CMOP's research, education and outreach activities provide direct benefits to the people of the Pacific Northwest. By bringing the best available science to natural resource management debates, CMOP helps local communities make better informed development decisions and reduce conflict.
