Phonathon Caller

The OHSU Foundation currently has phonathon caller openings to join our annual and special giving team. OHSU Foundation phonathon callers' primarily responsibility is to contact individuals on behalf of the Oregon Health and Sciences University to garner philanthropic support. Candidates are provided thorough training at the outset of this position, and with regular ongoing training will be equipped with the necessary skills to communicate with individuals in a conversation about supporting OHSU.

The Phonathon program takes place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:30pm at the downtown offices of the OHSU Foundation.We ask that callers commit to at least 6 months to ensure the consistency and continuation of effective training and success.This is a permanent, part time position and callers will be compensated at the rate of $10/hour.

Preference may be given to those with call center, customer service or fundraising experience.

Director of Development, Provost and Schools

The OHSU Foundation currently has an opening for a Director of Development (Provost & Schools). Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this position is to raise significant levels of philanthropic support for Oregon Health & Science University through the OHSU Foundation in support of assigned programs and projects. The director of development represents the university to donors, potential donors and alumni. In addition, the director of development works closely with administrative and academic leaders at OHSU and OHSU Foundation to develop and implement approved philanthropic funding goals and objectives involving clinical services, hospital operations, research, teaching and community education.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Ability to understand and effectively manage complex issues related to medical education and research in a multi-tiered, academic medical institution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial reports used by the foundation and university.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with many different constituencies, especially physicians, academic community, trustees, business leaders and volunteers.
  • Solutions-driven with an ability to anticipate potential problems.
  • Be entrepreneurial in nature: creative, self-starting and oriented toward action and results.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize time effectively, establish priorities and manage a large number of tasks simultaneously.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, such as liberal arts, marketing or a scientific field.
  • Five years or more previous fundraising experience, especially in major and planned gifts.
  • Proven knowledge of all aspects of development including major gifts, planned gifts, campaigns, annual giving, direct marketing, and volunteer management.
  • Must be proficient in many computer programs, including office suite applications, and development-specific applications.
  • Experience in health care/education is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced, demanding work environment requiring an ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities under pressure and maintain focus on achievement of established financial goals.
  • Travel is a requirement of this position, as well as some night time and evening work.

Research & Prospect Management Coordinator

The OHSU Foundation currently has an opening for an Research & Prospect Management Coordinator.Reporting to the Associate Director of Research & Prospect Management as well as the Director of Development Services, this position supports the fund-raising efforts of the OHSU Foundation through proactive and reactive prospect research and relevant prospect assignment.As a member of the Research and Prospect Management team, the incumbent will play an important role in identifying new potential prospects to help fill development officers' portfolios, identifying critical relationships and helping maintain an accurate prospect pipeline. In addition, the position will provide general departmental support for development services for 20% of the time.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities required (unless preferred is noted):

  • Excellent written communications skills; ability to prepare formal minutes, meeting notes, and general correspondence for executive signature
  • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to compose and edit business documents and materials

  • Ability to create professional letters, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; advanced skills preferred

Assistant Director of Gift Planning

The OHSU Foundation currently has an opening for an Assistant Director of Gift Planning.Reporting to the Senior Director of Gift Planning, this individual will have operational responsibility for administering the Gift Planning Department's centralized estate gift program.This individual will also have deferred gift operational responsibilities associated with bequest expectancies, planned gifts and guild enrollment, and will participate in other Gift Planning Department efforts as needed.

Director of Development Services

The OHSU Foundation currently has an opening for Director of Development Services.Reporting to the Vice President for Development, this position will determine how to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and measures of success. This individual will ensure that the fundraising database (Raiser's Edge) facilitates a strategic, integrated program of prospect identification, research and donor management in support of major fundraising campaigns. He/she will work directly with fundraisers and leadership to define needs and compile data and information to provide statistical models, forecasts, metrics and analyses to enable managers to make informed business decisions, and manage donors and prospects from an individual or segment perspective.

Additional responsibilities include setting department goals and standards, participating in high-level and interdepartmental projects, and managing vendor relationships. This individual will provide strategic insight and cross-program analyses, and make recommendations to optimize resources throughout the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five to ten years of professional experience (or educational equivalent) in an analytical, research or information specialist role within an academic, nonprofit, corporate or consulting setting
  • Demonstrated experience in the full spectrum of philanthropic fund development, including major and principal gifts, comprehensive campaigns, annual and special gifts, proposal development, special events planning, prospect research and a working knowledge of the various vehicles used in charitable estate planning
  • Proven success in managing, mentoring, retaining and recruiting a professional and diverse staff
  • Be entrepreneurial in nature: creative, self-starting and oriented toward action and results
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; possess strong attention to detail
