Emergency Department
The OHSU/Doernbecher Emergency Department is one of only two Level 1 Trauma centers in the region, and the only emergency department with board-certified pediatric emergency physicians working every day between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.
In the current facility, children are mixed with adult patients, and children admitted to the emergency department between 11 p.m. and 11 a.m. are cared for by providers who may have little experience with pediatric patients. The lack of all-hours access to pediatric emergency clinicians and equipment makes a trip to the emergency room a frightening experience for many children and families.
The Doernbecher Foundation has committed to raising the $5 million necessary to transform the current emergency department into a child-friendly, family centered facility where children are treated by board certified pediatric emergency physicians, pediatric nurses and pediatric nurse practitioners 24 hours per day. Your gift will help make this renovation possible.
