Credit Unions for Kids

Credit unions throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington have been helping the children at Doernbecher Children's Hospital for 22 years. The Credit Unions for Kids program is a grassroots fundraising effort involving more than 100 credit unions throughout the region. The credit unions' credo of "People Helping People" is aptly illustrated in their commitment to the kids at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

To date Credit Unions for Kids has raised more than $8 million for Doernbecher. Funded projects include:

  • Building of the new hospital, in which the 7th floor has been named the Credit Unions for Kids Outpatient Clinics.
  • Endowed position for the Chairman of Doernbecher Children's Hospital
  • Four additional pediatric intensive care unit rooms
  • One parent kitchen and one exam unit in the cancer center expansion
  • Two procedure rooms in the Biomedical Research Building
  • Endowed professorship for the director of pediatric neurology

Credit Unions raise money through everything from candy and bake sales (above) to large-scale events such as the Annual Wine Auction and the Hank & Moose Open Golf Tournament (below).
