Vollum Writing ProgramThe premise of the Vollum Writing Program is that success in science requires skillful writing. Since 1996, this quarterly program has trained more than 175 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from the Vollum and across the university. As a result, trainees have reported increased achievement in publishing papers and securing grant funds. The program serves its participants in two ways: by strengthening professional writing and by developing skills in reviewing. Its success has also prompted OHSU’s Office of Research Development and Administration to establish a university-wide training program in grant writing. The Vollum and university programs are directed by Rachel Dresbeck, a professional writer and editor.
