RP009 Barklis

Research in the Barklis lab focuses on the development of novel inhibitors to flaviviruses such as West Nile virus, Japanese Encephalitis virus, and Dengue virus. These viruses are emerging worldwide health threats, and effective treatments to them are not currently available. The Barklis lab has identified several promising classes of flavivirus inhibitors and is working on maximizing their safety and effectiveness; and determining how they act, and how they affect the immune system. These studies will lead to a better understanding of how flaviviruses cause disease, and will generate new antiviral therapies for the treatment of these diseases.
