NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO OHSU SCHOOL OF NURSING'S OFFICE OF RESEARCH DEVELOPMENTDramatic growth in nursing research requires new position, reorganization
"In the last five years the school rose from 19th to eighth in the nation for research funds granted by the National Institutes of Health," said Virginia Tilden, R.N., D.N.SC., F.A.A.N., associate dean for research and A.B. Youmans Spaulding Distinguished Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing. "We are indeed fortunate to welcome someone of Leslie's background and abilities to the School." Bevan will work closely with Tilden, who oversees the school's research mission. Previously Bevan has served OHSU as director of compliance and assurance, and as director of grants and contracts. In these roles she assiduously developed materials to improve functioning of the Institutional Review Board staff and of the committee itself. She also managed personnel who handled more than $200 million annually in grants. She has consulted on research efforts for the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, the Oregon Biomedical Research Association, OMSI, the Oregon Health Division, and others. Bevan's own research has been funded by the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health. In her new role, she can expressly "help the School achieve its research goals," Tilden noted. |
