Think First for Kids is a six-week modular
curriculum for grades 1-3 that teaches children the importance
of safety habits. It is presented in a classroom format and
is fully integrated into the elementary school curriculum.
Each grade (1-3) has a separate curriculum and array of classroom
activities specifically designed for its grade level.
Think First for Big
Kids is
a unique, literature-based curriculum for grades
4-6 that teaches children important risk-prevention
strategies while helping them to improve their critical
thinking, reading and writing skills.
Think First for Teens,
for middle- and high-school students, addresses
injury prevention by focusing on the underlying
behaviors that lead to injury. The program explores
issues such as peer pressure, risk taking, conflict
resolution and substance use, particularly as they
relate to violence, motor vehicle safety, and sports/recreation
safety.
Think First Connections is
an innovative intergenerational program aimed
at preventing injury among teenagers and
senior adults. Connections pairs teens and
seniors one-on-one with the goal of decreasing
risk-taking behavior among teens and maintaining
and/or increasing the cognitive and physical
functioning of seniors.
The Think First programs are available statewide to students and educators
at no cost. Each program includes comprehensive training and consultation
by Think First staff and all necessary teaching materials.
