TRC Internship Opportunities: General Information

Internships are available to undergraduate students (Technology Marketing Internship only) and graduate-level students with undergraduate degrees in science, engineering or information science and undergraduate students. Other degrees or specializations may qualify at the discretion of the director. TRC interns provide a valuable service to the office by assisting with technology development and transition from laboratory to market for the benefit of the public. Projects include patent, market and business research as well as assisting TRC staff with the development of technology commercialization plans.

  • Time commitment of 8-15 hours per week during the academic year and 10 or more hours during the summer.
  • Minimum length of service is one semester or two terms.
  • Internships will be project-based with project mentors assigned from TRC staff.
  • Academic credit can be arranged.

Current Internship Opportunities

Intellectual Property and Licensing Intern

The Office of Technology & Research Collaborations at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a legal student intern for its ongoing intellectual property evaluation and patent process procedures. Projects include conducting patent research, assisting in the evaluation of university technologies for patentability, and performing other tech transfer and licensing activities as requested.

To qualify, you must be a currently enrolled legal student at an accredited law school. Background in science strongly preferred. Experience in patent and business research. Strong written/verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications. Excellent organization and communication skills. Professional appearance and demeanor.

Technology Marketing Intern

The Office of Technology & Research Collaborations at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a student intern for its ongoing technology development and commercialization activities. Projects include developing office and technology marketing collateral, assisting in the preparation of technology commercialization plans and conducting patent, market and business research.

Duties will include writing, reviewing and editing office and technology-specific collateral, conducting online marketing and business research and assisting with other commercialization activities as required.

To qualify, you must be a current undergraduate or a graduate student in advertising, marketing, writing, or pre-law disciplines. Additional coursework in science strongly preferred. MBA students encouraged. Experience in web design, marketing and business research. Strong written/verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and HTML. Excellent organization and communication skills. Professional appearance and demeanor.
