DISTINGUISHED NURSING RESEARCH LECTURESHIP AWARD
BACKGROUND
The Distinguished Research Lectureship Award was instituted at the 1988 Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference sponsored by the Western Society for Research in Nursing (WSRN was merged with the Western Institute of Nursing in 1996). The award recognizes a senior investigator whose research career has made substantial and sustained contributions to nursing.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES
AND CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
- Each nominee must have a sponsor and a co-sponsor. The sponsor and co-sponsor must be WIN individual members or from a WIN member agency.
- The online nomination form must be completed and submitted for each nominee.
- Each nomination must include statements from the sponsor and a co-sponsor that provide a synthesis of how the nominee's research career has made a substantial and sustained contribution to the discipline of nursing. Neither statement shall exceed 500 words.
- Do not include vitae or articles. Such materials will not be considered.
SELECTION PROCESS
The WIN Program Committee will select the 2009 recipient. The Committee includes: Judy Berg, Lauren Clark, Tina DeLapp, Marie Driever, Margaret Heitkemper, Anne Marie Kotzer, Martha J. Lentz, Lori Loan, Marie Lobo, Barbara Mandleco, Patricia Pearce and Karen Zulkowski. All who submit papers will be notified of the committee's decision by February 2009. The nomination sponsor will be notified of the decision of the committee by January 2009. The sponsor will have the opportunity to notify the recipient prior to notification by WIN.
PRESENTATION OF AWARD
The Distinguished Research Lectureship awardee will be recognized in two ways at the Annual WIN Conference.
1) The Distinguished Research Lectureship Award will be presented at the awards luncheon during the 42nd Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference, April 22-25, 2009 at the Salt Lake City Hilton Downtown, Salt Lake City, UT
. The sponsor will introduce the award recipient and share the reasons why this person is deserving of the award. The Distinguished Research Lecturer awardee will receive a certificate of recognition and be featured on the WIN website; and
2) The Distinguished Research Lectureship will be given during the conference. The Distinguished Research Lectureship award paper will be printed in the conference proceedings.
CONFERENCE EXPENSES
WIN is not able to defray registration fees or reimburse travel expenses for the award recipient, sponsor or co-sponsor.
DEADLINE
The completed online nomination form, the letter from the sponsor and the letter of support from the co-sponsor must be received in the WIN office by 5:00 PM, Monday, November 3, 2008.
