In 3 terms as Governor for Nursing Practice, I have worked with the WIN Board to invite clinical agencies to see the benefits of WIN membership. In 6 years as chair of the WIN Program Committee, I facilitated this Committee to try new ways of organizing and strengthening program sessions. These program strategies have been directed at meeting the learning needs and networking desires of WIN members. At this point, I am seeking to serve as President-Elect to continue serving WIN by enhancing ways of responding to member needs and furthering nursing and nursing research collaboration in the West. |

I have been an active member of WIN since my doctoral education in 1990. Over the past three years I have served as Secretary-Treasury. I believe that this service has provided me with a unique view of the inner workings of the organization. This knowledge and experience will help me serve the membership in ways that will continue the financial strength and growth that WIN has enjoyed in recent years. My goals are to maintain this foundation while attracting new doctoral students to help meet the demands of the future. |

My purpose for seeking re-election as Governor Representative for Nursing Education is to continue service to WIN by careful stewardship and insuring resources and efforts remain focused on the organization's mission. My major goal is to provide input that positively impacts nurse scientists' abilities to generate and disseminate new nursing knowledge. I bring a wide background of educational, clinical, leadership, program planning, and research experience to the position. In particular I have led myriad graduate nursing curricular development efforts and have planned successful conferences. I have years of experience with educational issues, particularly those for nurse scientist development. |

My goal is to support the mission of WIN by bringing to the table voices of practicing nurses and building strong partnerships among nurses in practice, education, and research. I have been an active member of WIN for over 20 years, presenting at annual conferences and serving on the Nominating, Development, and Award Selection Committees. I believe it is essential for WIN to continue to grow and sustain its fiscal resources to expand member benefits and secure a strong future. I have served on local/national Boards of Directors and would work toward developing WIN as a premier organization in the West. |

I was fortunate enough to attend my first WIN assembly in 1997. I was selected to receive a travel award for the WIN/WSRN Student Research Exchange and present my poster. I joined WIN in 2003 and have presented a poster at the WIN assembly in 2003 and in 2006. I would like to have the opportunity to be more active in WIN and I believe that serving on the nominating committee would be great. I know many WIN members from the schools I have been associated with. I am a strong supporter of WIN and its mission. |

My clinical roles have included staff nurse, Nurse Manager, and Chair of Shared Governance. I've been on BYU's College of Nursing faculty since 2002, have served as Sigma Theta Tau College Counselor and Student Nurses' Association Faculty Advisor, and made several presentations at WIN. Juggling doctoral studies at OHSU , full-time employment, and responsibilities as a single-mother helped me develop organizational skills that will be useful in the Nominating Committee. Through my experiences, I learned important characteristics I believe may be needed in WIN leadership roles. |
