Housing

OHSU Student Health Services

The OHSU Major Medical Insurance plan is available to your dependents and/or domestic partner if you carry that policy. You will find comprehensive information about the OHSU major medical insurance on the Student Health Service Web site at http://www.ohsu.edu/academic/acad/health/. Note: Students in the RN to Bachelors Degree Program for nurses should Lorraine Cook RN/BS Advisor regarding this requirement.

Program Progression

The nursing program consists of a two-year upper division program. A copy of your program of study will be handed out during orientation and discussed to give you an overview of what you can expect in the nursing program. Please plan on being in school full-time and plan on variations with your clinical schedule each quarter. Clinical courses are similar to "lab" courses in that each credit hour translates into three clinical contact hours. In other words, when you have a three credit clinical course, you will be spending nine hours each week in the clinical skills lab or at a clinical site with patients. A five credit clinical course requires fifteen hours per week in a clinical area. The study or preparation required as part of your clinical work will be over and above the clinical course hours.

Student Grievance Policy

OHSU and the School of Nursing seek to promote an educational environment that values communication, fair treatment and respect among students, faculty and staff. Despite these efforts, differences of values and goals between individuals and groups may occasionally lead to circumstances that require a process for resolving these issues. See the Student Grievance Policy for more details on resolution of grievances when informal resolution is not possible or is unsatisfactory.

Student Handbook

We highly recommend that students take the time to thoroughly read the Catalog and Student Handbook prior to starting classes this summer. Please note, students are required to adhere and comply with all policies and procedures listed in the handbook and should bookmark the site in their web browser for future reference.
