About Research at the School of Nursing Dedicated to compassionate and excellent care, research and patient advocacy within an increasingly complex health care system, the School has consistently been ranked as one of the top nursing institutions in the nation. With extramural research dollars totaling approximately $6 million in FY 2004, faculty are investigating topics that are important to the development of the science of nursing and to support the clinical practice of nursing. Studies address national research priorities, including aging and elder care, acute and chronic illness, caregiving, symptom management, health disparities, the human genome, and rural health.
