of Nursing Ashland Campus Receives 2004 Soroptimist Advancing the Status
of Women Award
The OHSU School
of Nursing Ashland campus
has received the 2004 "Advancing the Status of Women" award
from Soroptimist International of Ashland. The annual award recognizes
a business or organization that has been particularly active and successful
in initiating, supporting or advocating programs that advance the status
of women. Donna Markle, M.S., R.N., associate professor, will be attending
the March 17 award luncheon and will receive the plaque on the school’s
behalf.
Soroptimist is an
international volunteer service organization for women in business,
management and the professions. Soroptimist's mission is to improve
life for women and girls by identifying needs and working through targeted
service projects to address those needs. The program of recognition
began in 1984 and is participated in by Soroptimist Clubs throughout
the world. For more information about Soroptimist International, visit
the organization’s Web site at www.soroptimist.org.
