Nursing Students Interviewed by OPB About the Image of Nursing

How do images of nursing in media contribute to society’s view of the role nurses play in health care? The representation of nursing in media is an ongoing discussion. From the white cap and uniform of the past to the buxom blonde image, nurses are represented with various stereotypes throughout media. Students at the OHSU School of Nursing campus in Klamath Falls were recently interviewed by Oregon Public Broadcasting about their research methods class study on the image of nursing in greeting cards. Read the complete OPB interview about the student study and opinions about the representation of nurses in media at:

Taking the Long View

When a group of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners gathered together in Lane County, they noticed something about themselves that was troubling: Each of them was aging toward retirement. They became concerned about who would serve their patients in their community when they and their peers left the field. They committed to being part of the solution.
