This month in Nursing eNotes: June 2003 (go to past archives) _______________________________________________________ If it hadn't been for a traffic accident, Andy Paulson might not have discovered what he really wanted to do in life. Paulson will be among more
than 850 graduates at Oregon Health & Science University's 2003 Commencement
scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
in downtown Portland. To read the complete story, go to: People may soon see OHSU
School of Nursing students sitting outside on a sunny day operating their
computers without cords attached. That's because the first and third floors,
including the entrance patio, the student lounge and the auditorium of
the School have gone wireless. “My life changed dramatically
because of the School of Nursing,” said Eileen Brown, who graduated
from OHSU in 1943. Eileen went on to become a physical therapist who cared
for everyone from Oregon Symphony musicians to patients who could not
pay. But she never forgot the impact the School of Nursing had on her
and so she made a gift to the school in her estate planning. You can read
more about Ms. Brown by going to: Please join the OHSU School
of Nursing Alumni Association in congratulating Margene Tower, BS '61,
MS, the recipient of the prestigious 2003 OHSU School of Nursing's Distinguished
Alumni of the Year Award. For more information about Margene Tower, go

were nominated for nurse of the year and were recognized on May 7 for
their professionalism and excellence in care. To read the list of awardees,
go to: Is nursing a guy thing? An
exciting program developed by the OHSU School of Nursing is geared to
attract young men to the nursing profession. On May 10 a group of young
men from neighboring middle schools spent a fun filled day at the OHSU
School of Nursing and experienced first hand what it takes to be in this
rewarding profession. To read more, go to: For more information about OHSU School of Nursing, visit the Web site at: http://www.ohsu.edu/son To share a story idea for future Nursing eNotes, e-mail sonnews@ohsu.edu Update your mailing address
