TEACHING
Since Spring Quarter, 2006, I have taught NUR 617a Applied Statistics I, the first required doctoral statistics course. For more details.
RESEARCH
My research involves the development of new statistical methods and the application of those new methods together with existing methods to the analysis of health science data. My research interests include adaptive methods for statistical model selection, modeling and analysis of electronic monitoring data, modeling and analysis of longitudinal family data, statistical evaluation of survey instruments, and applications of statistics to nursing research. I am currently principal investigator on the NIAID-funded project Modeling HIV Subjects' Electronic Monitoring Device Data (Grant # R01 AI057043). This project involves extending adaptive nonparametric regression methods that I have developed to handle data generated by electronic monitoring devices like the Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS) pill bottle cap.
